Raising alpacas for the next generation

There are so many ways to promote your animals and products. Here are a few non-traditional methods you may not have thought of to stire up some of your imaginative resources and get excited again about letting perspective customers learn about your business. There are many more ideas and will appear here as time allows.

    Automobile Advertising

They're everywhere. In a very short period of time a new and inexpensive technology of placing advertising on your vehicle's windows with the new vinyl lettering and graphics has come about. Even the old idea of magnetic signs has improved. Check your local yellow pages for some of your sign dealers who specialize in this.

    Automobile Tags - Alabama

What a great idea and for only $50 per year! Following are some of the vanity tags that have already been adopted with accompanying owners names where available. This is a great way to promote your favorite way of life not to mention the fact you can write off the extra cost above your vehicle taxes as a business advertising expense. For additional information on what else is available, visit these links for the Alabama standard and specialty tag selections.

    Domain Names

On the Internet, your domain name is your front door. I have several customers who have more than one domain name for their site just as some large retail stores find it necessary to have more than one entrance to their merchandise. Purchase your front door with an easy to remember name and don't put it off too long. The good ones have just about all been taken.

Instead of paying a possible high price for a domain name, an alternative would be a long term lease with a turn-key provider. For alpaca related domain names check out www.Camelids.net.

Another alternative would be to use the latest .name extension. You can use your farm name with a .name if it has already been taken with the .com. Find out more information on this at www.Alpacas.name.

Along that idea, you can be more specific by assigning a domain name to your individual animals. One such example is SouthernSunrise.Alpaca.name. Go to www.Alpaca.name for more on this brand new idea.

    Link Exchanges

One of the easiest and sometimes a very effective means of extending the evidence of your farm presence is with a link exchange with another web site. You include a link to their site and they return the favor.

Be sure to pick those sites with information on alpacas or camelids as the basic topic of interest.

Those with a Google Page Rank of 4 or more are the sites with more traffic and therefore a better bet. A good tool to determine this along with other search engine measures can be found at StuckDomains.com. As you can see if you click on the link, I need better exposure with this web site.

    Web Sites

In just the past year there has been a flurry of activity of people trying to get their information on the Internet for the great exposure it offers. More and more people are using the convenience of their computer to search for this information. There is a definite art to creating an effective web site and it doesn't have to cost you an arm and a leg. Be sure to visit the Alabama related web sites on the Farm page. If you do not have a web site yet, feel free to contact me about the inexpensive possibilities at Steve@AlabamaAlpacas.com.
